DVIDA MEDAL PROGRAM
A DVIDA Medal Exam certificate provides real, tangible proof of achievement, mastery and skill measured against an Internationally recognized syllabus. It will enable you to know your current dancing level directly helping future improvement.
It’s an exciting recognition of a dancers personal accomplishment.
The DVIDA syllabus is recognized throughout the entire dance industry. The Medal examination is performed by an accredited, recognized examiner. While your instructor cannot perform this exam they can be your dance partner.
Is this different to a “home brew” Studio Syllabus Program?
Good question! There is absolutely no comparison. “Studio Programs” are almost always non-transferable, meaning that they only have value within that studio and virtually no relevance outside that studio. Imagine every school having their own teaching syllabi – there would be no recognizable standards for the students at all. The DVIDA syllabus provides dancers with a completely understandable, open, transferable and recognizable standard of achievement that they can truly be proud of.
Undertaking a medal program is a focused, fun and rewarding process towards a real and worthy goal.
How it works
We will fully prepare you for your exam in your chosen dance or dances. The exam consists of you performing your chosen dance(s) as either Leader or Follower (or both!)
You can either dance with:
- a professional (as in your instructor)
- another student
- another student who is also dancing for their own medal exam.
Medal Programs are usually conducted as private classes with your partner.
Which dances can I examine in?
We can prepare you for your medal program in any of the following:
(International) Standard: Waltz, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Tango, Viennese Waltz
(International) Latin: Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Paso Doble
(American) Smooth: Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz
(American) Rhythm: Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Meringue, Mambo, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing
When are the exams?
We arrange examinations periodically throughout the year which means you’ll be able to take your exam at the right time for you
Is this a Competition?
No, its a personal experience, no other dancers are involved and there is only one examiner.
